The Potting Shed
The largest of our oak frame outdoor classrooms at the Steiner Academy Hereford the Horticultural classroom or 'potting shed' is the centre piece for the Academies outdoor teaching. Working closely with architect John Renshaw we were able to advise on frame design and materials. The building consists of six bays which form two enclosed rooms and two larger 'open' rooms, one being used as an outdoor kitchen space, the other an open teaching space. The building is clad with wainy edge Douglas fir with a fire retardant cedar shingle roof, the floor is laid with rough sawn Douglas fir decking boards.
